Anne-Marie O'Connor's story of Klimt's masterpiece is not only exhaustive and very well documented, it is also exquisitely written. I read it like detective novel. Through this book I took a trip to the turn-of-the-century Vienna and lived through the horrors of Nazi occupation and war.
